Prodigal Son: from the biblical parable of the son who lives a riotous and dissolute life, yet repents his sins ("Father, I have sinned against heaven" [Luke 15:21]) and returns home where he is rewarded by his father.

Unfortunately for the son who stayed behind and worked hard, the prodigal son gets the fatted calf for slaughter.

The parable is meant to symbolize the redemptive power of God/belief.
