The Id

Part of Freud's triumvirate of psychological development, the Id is the infantile, ego-centric stage, dedicated to satisfying the basic urges of life without considering the consequences.  Unfortunately, many remain in this stage for their entire life.

The other two stages are the Ego (where you begin to develop a moral sense and respect others -- but mainly out of fear of the consequences) and the Super Ego (where your moral sense is based on, well, morals: you act a particular way not out of fear but of an innate sense that it is correct).
